Probabilistic analysis of land subsidence due to pumping by Biot poroelasticity and random field theory

Abstract Land subsidence is a global problem in urban areas. The main cause of land the pumping subsurface water. It great significance to study settlement and water flow lands due pumping. In this study, probabilistic analysis performed by Biot’s poroelasticity random field theory based on case study. results show that change deformation aquifer far less significant than hydraulic head over years. When considering spatial variability soil strength, suffers from uncertainty when correlation length large. Nevertheless, strength can be ignored. conductivity, mainly located near bedrock increases markedly along with rise length. Time another important factor increase head. However, its contribution displacement insignificant.
